How it all started ...

As of course great ideas come when great minds think ... and hence it all started with one great mind Andu writing a very nostalgic email to the inflated egos group after a 5 year hiatus and that instigated everyone to go back down the memory lane! (Andu, you owe me credit for giving u the great mind title, please remember). So here I am starting this blog summarizing some of the stuff that we had put in email so it stays here on record. Hope to see some of u using ur idle brains in this recession to add somethin' to this blog ...

The SP Story:

Buddha:
A question that we spent time trying to remember was "How did SP come into our group"? While I felt that he met Ra, Razzez in Kaulguds class, Rally thought you guys met up in Surya gym

Ra:
if I remember right, it was a mix of both that SP was in Kaulgud’s and in those days he was the only cool dude who had a ‘bhaun bhaun’ kinetic while we all poor souls used to be on cycle or barefoot in the hot sun. And then of course SP had all the cuts and biscuits, courtesy Surya gym which was the inspiration for Razzez and the likes. (due respect Potre from NCL gym who Razzez’s first coach and mentor). SP, please validate the facts that have been presented. Btw SP is now the owner of multiple flats in high rise buildings in Pune and is the has become the true zameendar of Pune.

SP: (full of lies)
Let get the facts straight I was in NCL colony much before some of you were born.I attended Kuku's barsa.
Kp and me were dushman some 30 years back when were in KG. He claims i threw stones..he has still not recovered.
The group was not much of a group untill i arrived.
Razzeez and Ra followed me to Surya gym that was the beginning really. We didnt really hang out after Kaulgud.
KP and me went to FC college together.
When i started playing Basket ball then some of you got zeeelous and started the hate SP group.Ra always hated me btw from the gym days :)... lots to recollect maybe i will write a book and dedicate it to the egos.. (pehle ek blog to likh)

KP:
SP renewedhis dushmani with me when we visited the museum in New Haven together bythreatening to throw stones at the sculptures. I have thus decided to visit himin his high rise and create a row under his nose when Iam in Pune next. Hope Ra& Razess are up to this.

Most memorable moments (from emails):

-Seeing couples on bikes during Bobby-walks and wondering "mera number kab aayega?"
-Writing applications to NCL begging for a new basketball.
-Razzez getting caught by Kelu (I still remember the look on his face while staring at Razzez'z muscles ).
-Some of us parking near Rallys home to avoid getting caught.
-Kelu dragging us for tea/sutta to Siddharth.
-Playing basketball/football right after Holi with soiled/colored clothes.
-Vaidhya from the NCL team. He was the "old horse" of the team and played with us for maybe a year or so...
- Chai at Siddharth,
- Soumya.. the undisputed king of PJ's ( not 3 pointers though),
- Speedo and his cosmetic surgery ( read nose job...funny how everyone missed that out ),
- I remember the first time Ra tasted meat was from the top of my scalp..that probably was the last time as well, huh?...
- Jal frazie at Samudra near nal stop..
- Buddha and the street cat, Walking the dog after basketball.
- SP breaking Boo's glasses after his reverse fling..
- unni firing sakat after he slipped and fell and badly messed up the tennis court..
-KP's fight with Pramod Nair (who covered his left butt while dribbling)
-Bloody noses of Boo, Mukho, Razez, Amtya
-Nikhil Sansare was probably the most injury prone guy
-Soumya's (not sure) or KP's fight with Sakat
-Andu's tambakku style of rubbing hands, SP's robotic gait, KP's dribbling
-Drinking water on Soumya's swing and sitting on the circle with bikes around
-Contri for buying the ball (Cosco, Nivia - Rs 240-280), getting NCL to buy new rings and boards
-Playing barefoot or with kelachandra's, broken rings, rattling boards (which Ra had perfected for 3ptrs)
-Frustration towards the last few months when everyone moved out and ppl hardly met to play (Lone crusader born)

  3. note of dissension @ most memorable moments:
if i remember right... Somya was the King of 3ptrs... Ra was the King of missed 3ptrs - always aligned himself @ zero and let rip... and missed - more often than not. From zero one could not tell if the ball had gone thru the ring as there was not net. No wonder Ra is deluding himself into believing that he is King of 3 ptrs.
